Curiosity is the Spark That Ignites Reinvention
Want to reinvent yourself? The secret is simple – practice curiosity.
Cultivate an Insatiable Curiosity
Curiosity is high powered octane fuel for growth.
It is the spark that ignites transformation.
Curiosity will help you:
- Explore and create pathways to new possibilities
- Discover new passions and learn new things
- Meet and meaningfully connect with new people
- Take big and little ideas from concept to creation
And if that weren’t enough, according to psychologist and author of the book, Curiosity: Discover the Missing Ingredient to a Fulfilling Life, Todd Kashdan, “It [curiosity] is a powerful trait that is often overlooked on the road to finding purpose and meaning in life.“ ?
Curiosity as a Skill
Curiosity is that it is a skill that you can learn and practice.
In fact, we were all born with curiosity as a skill. It’s the reason that as babies we had to grab everything we could get our hands on and put it in our mouths to explore further.
That means we are no stranger to this skill, however, we may have to tune it up a little bit. Once you do, you’ll find that curiosity will:
- Keep you open-minded.
- Give you the courage to take risks.
- Help you embrace change.
Start by cultivating your curiosity. Here are some things you can do right away:
Reconsider the Familiar
Start close to home and question some of the things you already know and do regularly. Ask yourself how you got to doing it a certain way or why you think a certain way. You may be surprised and that is curiosity at work!
Ask Questions
At your next meeting or conversation, focus on asking more questions. When you get a response, ask a follow up question. This also means you have to silence the voice in your head that is talking while someone else is trying to talk to you. Act as if you were interrogating them and pile on the questions (respectfully of course).
Try New Things
Never danced before? Take a dance lesson. Never painted before? Take a painting class. Never played golf? Take a golf lesson. Do something or go somewhere new. Take a new path home from the office (even more fun if you live in a city).

Your transformation is just one curious thought away!
